As you might be able to tell from the title this post is about reviews.
I am a relatively new author, and as I continue my journey through this industry, I rapidly realized how important reviews are. Your review count can make or break whether a person picks up your book. And if you are an avid reader like me, you go into the review section to get a scope about what some books are actually about, as the blurb can sometimes be too vague.
It's also relevant in cases like book reviews that bloggers do. Such as the one I did on Allison in Underland(I will be posting another review soon. Don't worry!).
I'll tell you a secret. Authors really do want to hear your thoughts on their books, whether it is good or bad. Especially new authors like me. We want to know if what we are writing is working for our intended audience, if the story moved you or if it just pissed you off. What did you or did you not like about it?
Though we are also afraid of so many people leaving bad reviews as sometimes the politics can get meshed into reviews and fans of one author will purposefully leave bad reviews on another authors book, or maybe there was an error when the book was published and you accidentally only have three pages in the book.
This is part of the reason why authors create social media pages. We want to talk to our fans, discuss the books, listen to your opinions, Or heck if you notice the odd typo and publishing error. Authors are not infallible, and we do make mistakes in our books all the time, but a lot of the time they are easy fixes, so it's not the end of the world.
So I guess the point of this post is: if there is a book you've read that has moved you(be it go or bad) go leave a review or talk to the author.
